She's gone...

I never quote Hall & Oates without good reason.
In this case, intrepid YES! Weekly reporter Amy Kingsley has given her two-week notice.

Yep... she's headed for that great big slot machine in the Nevada desert, Las Vegas, where she'll continue her career at one of the best damn weekly papers in the country, Las Vegas City Life. To say that we'll miss her is an understatement.
Amy came on about three years ago (wow), not too far off J-school at Chapel Hill and working the city's underground stages as the bassist for Dawn Chorus. She quickly immersed herself in the inner workings of the city, and then when we opened our Winston-Salem bureau, she spearheaded our efforts there.
We're as proud as we can be of Amy, and we all look forward to following the next chapter of her career as it plays out in Vegas. We know she'll kick some ass.
On a personal note, I have been honored to work with her. And I'd like to list some of her career highlights here at YES! Weekly. (I'd link them, but our archives are MIA after the website redesign. We're working on it.)
She went on the road with a women's football team.
She spent the night in jail.
She schlepped out to the Montagnard farm.
She corresponded with an imprisoned drug dealer.
She went on a Hash House Harriers beer run.
She even did some stringing for the New York Post.
There's tons more, of course... she filed hundreds of stories under the YES! Weekly masthead.
Can't wait to see what she can do in a city like Las Vegas.
And I invite everyone to leave farewells and memories of Ms. Kingsley in the comments below.
