Protest petition info posted on city website

It’s official: the protest petition is back in Greensboro. The NC General Assembly ratified a bill on March 5 to lift an exemption imposed in 1971. With the restoration, when enough neighbors sign a petition protesting a rezoning, city council needs a supermajority of 75 percent to approve the requested change. On Greensboro’s nine-member council, that translates to seven affirmative votes. The city has posted information about requirements and procedures for submitting protest petitions.
