Vicious racist reaction to hotel revelations

Predictably, revelations about black community leaders advocating behind the scenes for a project in which they stand to gain financially, bring out vicious racism in those who are predisposed to see black people as inherently corrupt and incompetent, who see black people as less than human.

It is amazing how the truth comes out with time. You are only trying to protect that black bastard you are fucking and make some money yourself. You peoples could not tell the truth if your life depended on it.
Now that the truth about you and Skip is out I, along with many other hope hope the project fails. If you want it done right and to help the community get a group of whites to run it. Just look at how much skip stole from the CRM.
You are just a useless piece of dog squeeze.

UPDATE, Feb. 4: I received a printout of the e-mail exchange between Hayes and Holt from Guilford County Schools. I'm not sure if this will confirm to Roch Smith's satisfaction that the communication is authenticated, but I'm convinced.

Would you post the original message source for this email please? ("View message source" should be an option in most email programs).

It can provide information that can assist in authenticating its provenance.

I agree with Roch; would like to see the source for this.

Additionally, if you've ever read the N&R comments on anything vaguely related to something that might or might not touch on race, the comments are almost as ugly and vicious and this one.

Life in the blogosphere requires a very thick skin as well as source info that can be used to validate or track down a user.

BTW, these ugly comments aren't relegated only to stories that touch on (or focus on) race, so sadly, Ms. Hayes doesn't need to feel special (sarcasm alert). They're an unfortunate part of any hot-button story.

Hopefully, Roch will be successful at trying to ascertain whether this message is authentic. Regardless, I think that it represents a strain of racism that we don't talk about enough in Greensboro.

How do you know who the "Predisposed" are? Have you got some kind of meter? Is an attack on black corruption coming from someone who is not "predisposed" therefore civil and not racist?

You claim Holt's message is racist and Holt is among the "predisposed." His message is crude, vulgar and inflammatory but I am not as sure as you that it is racist.

It is not racist to vigorously complain about black corruption. And even racists have a right to complain about black corruption. But according to you if it comes from "those who are predisposed" then we know it is racist.

Univestigated black corruption a la Project Homestead has left some people just plain fed up. When they make a fuss and become incendiary it is not necessarily racist.

Yeah, "You people" and "If you want it done right... get a group of whites" to run it are not racist.

Point made, Mike.

No, Mike, this language is blatantly racist: "black bastard," "you peoples," "if you want it done right... get a group of whites to run it" and "useless piece of dog squeeze."

Also, this e-mail plays on a pervasive and damaging myth that black people are predisposed towards corruption. The author says, "Just look at how much Skip stole from the [civil rights museum]." If there were evidence of that, then YW! and every other newspaper would be running lengthy articles about it and demanding accountability. The fact that such a statement can usually go unchallenged shows how much license most whites feel they have to malign and attack the integrity of black people.

OK, I concede that some of those names are racist. I have NEVER used anything like them them nor the "n" word and I am 62. And I believe blacks can really use a hand up because so many get a very rough start at life.

But a hand up is not looking the other way (failing to investigate) when blacks become corrupt.
I do not know if the writer of those words is a racist. He may be "predisposed" according to you. If racist namecalling makes the caller a racist then I dare say we have as many black racists as white racists.

Your statement that "If there was evidence of corruption then YES! WEEKLY would be running lengthy articles about it and demanding accountability" made me LOL! Why has YES! WEEKLY not published the evidence of fraud and deceit contained in my CHART that shows declining water sales since 1995 and the city's bogus water needs projections that justified the Randleman Dam? I have given you evidence that citizens are grossly misinformed and yet you refuse to publish the powder keg of FACTS that would set them straight.

Greensboro lied all the way to the Randleman Dam and you have not done your job to tell it. You have time to research Badin Lake water 50 miles away from the Triad and publish several pages on it but you cannot find any time for the Randleman Dam scam that has enough smoking guns to melt the polar ice caps.
