Having fun with porn at Greensboro council chambers

The porn discussion at Greensboro City Council is getting interesting.

District 3 Councilman Zack Matheny asks City Manager Rashad Young why the city uses more stringent filtering software to restrict access to city employees than the library uses to restrict its patrons from viewing pornography.

“The library director said the mission of the library is to provide free and equal access to information," Young says. "That is not the mission of the city of Greensboro’s personnel department.”

Touche.

Matheny then references a comment made by speaker earlier about how a student was unable to research breast cancer on the internet at a school library because the filter blocked the word "breast," but a Google search for the word "daffodil" brought up a page showing a naked man lying in a field of daffodils.

"I'm not going to go home and Google 'daffodil' tonight," Matheny says.

Mayor Bill Knight, who sits to Matheny's right, barely succeeds in suppressing laughter.
