Below is a press release from the city released today.
Equal Pay Day is held each year in April to represent the point at which the average woman’s salary catches up to the average man’s salary from the previous year. This year, Equal Pay Day falls on April 17.
The speakers for the CSW meeting are Jose Rosenberg, director of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and EEOC Attorney Tina Burnside.
“Studies show that women are still earning roughly 77 percent of what men earn in full-time, year-round positions nationally,” said Gail Foy, chair of the Commission on the Status of Women. “Those figures are even less for African-American women and Latina women.”
The meeting is free and open to the public. For additional information, please contact the Commission on the Status of Women at 373-2390 or the Human Relations Department at 373-2038.
