US Sen. Kay Hagan, who is girding herself against a home-state backlash to the Affordable Care Act and preparing for what promises to be a fierce, tea party-driven Republican challenge, will be in Winston-Salem on Friday to raise money for her 2014 reelection campaign.

The fundraiser will be held at the office of Noah Reynolds, a scion of the Reynolds tobacco family who ran unsuccessfully for city council this year. "Hosts," who are paying $1,000 to $2,600 to attend, include Mayor Allen Joines, Councilwoman Denise D. Adams, Councilman Derwin Montgomery, Councilman-elect Jeff MacIntosh, NC Rep. Ed Hanes Jr., Forsyth County Commissioner Everette Witherspoon, former Mayor Martha Wood, former NC Sen. Linda Garrou and Greensboro developer Michael Schiftan.
