Greensboro Native Angela Nesbit to Exhibit at Tyler White O’Brien Gallery April 26 Also Instructing One-Day Painting Workshop and “Lunch & Learn” Demo

ANGELA NESBIT

"Charlotte artist Angela Dewar Nesbit returns to her hometown of Greensboro on April 26 for “A Weekend with Angela Nesbit”, an exhibition of her work at Tyler White O’Brien Gallery, 307 State Street. The gallery will host an Artist’s Reception on April 26 from 6-8pm, a “Lunch and Learn” demonstration that afternoon from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, and a one-day painting workshop on April 27. The exhibition will hang from April 19 through May 14.

After 14 years studying oil painting since she broke away from her career in accounting to pursue parenthood and art, Angela Nesbit has developed a signature style that has attracted a following of collectors and students throughout the country to her endearing, action-packed portraits of children at play and lively still life paintings.

Nesbit’s paintings, with their loose compositions and thick layers of paint, have long been a favorite with clients of Tyler White O’Brien Gallery, where she has been exhibiting since 2006.  “Angela's work strikes an emotional chord, and her palette knife techniques fascinate both artists and collectors,” said Kathy O’Brien, gallery owner.  Andy Braitman, noted Charlotte artist and instructor, describes her work as luminous and “a narcotic surface that mesmerizes our eye and entertains our intellect”.

Accompanying Nesbit’s exhibition, Tyler White O’Brien will host a one-day painting workshop, “Painting the Still Life”, on April 27 from 9-4. Space is limited and students are encouraged to contact the gallery for registration.

Nesbit will also present a figurative demo on April 26, 11:30-1:00, at the gallery.  Tyler White O’Brien’s popular “Lunch & Learn” series provides participants with an intimate opportunity to see the artist’s techniques first hand and ask questions over lunch, included in the $20 registration fee.

Nesbit is also represented by galleries in Raleigh, Atlanta, Palm Beach and Carmel.  She works from her home studio in Charlotte, producing paintings for shows and galleries, as well as non-traditional commissions.

Tyler White Gallery is located at 307 State Street in Greensboro’s historic State Street Station shopping district.  The gallery is open Monday-Friday 11-5, and Saturday 11-4.  336-279-1124; www.tylerwhitegallery.com
