Never-Before Seen Hats From Dr. Seuss's Private Hat Collection

For the first time in history Dr. Seuss’s private hat collection is on tour, and Greensboro has the privilege to receive it! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a selection of hats from Dr. Seuss’s private collection!
Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as the wonderfully whimsical Dr. Seuss, had a secret which he kept stored away in a closet of the Seuss Estate. His famous books filled with brilliant, cheerful illustrations were not where his artistic streak ended! His Secret Art and fantastical Hat Collection, previously relatively unbeknownst to the public, are now being shared for the first time in history!
During his lifetime Geisel created paintings and fostered a hat collection that he never displayed.  For the 75th anniversary of The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins (Dr. Seuss’s second book of 44), the special Hats Off to Dr. Seuss! Exhibition has been mounted and it contains both the hats and his Secret Art.
Audrey Geisel, Dr. Seuss’s widow, generously opened the Estate and the legendary “hat closet” to allow the world a chance to enjoy the collection! The hats and the Secret Art are traveling the country, and we are lucky enough to have them visit during their journey!
In his artwork, as in his personal life, Dr. Seuss saw hats as transformational. He believed that hats, beyond their functionality, were the accent- an exclamation point, if you will-on a person’s character. They entertain, delight, embellish, even tease and taunt, but most of all, hats helped Dr. Seuss create a world of life-changing inspiration!
For over 60 years Dr. Seuss’s work has brought smiles and laughter to parents and children alike. His illustrations are visual realization of fantastic, imaginary worlds that only the most fanciful of minds could create!
Hats Off To Hope! Campaign
Also arriving with this splendiferous exhibition are Green Eggs and Ham: Would You? Could You? In a Car serigraph prints, featuring the signature of famed celebrity NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. His foundation-the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation-is dedicated to finding a cure for pediatric cancer.
The Hats Off to Hope! Campaign is a collaboration to bring hope, comfort, and support to the thousands of children battling cancer in the United States. Each purchase of a Jeff Gordon signed Would You? Could You? In a Car print will help to support Hats Off to Hope!
Join The Art Shop, Chase Art Companies, Random House Children’s Books, and the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation in the fight against childhood cancer!
