B-Movie Maestro Lloyd Kaufman to Premiere New Film at Geeksboro

Director Lloyd Kaufman, creator of “The Toxic Avenger,”
will be hosting an exclusive premiere of his newest film at
Geeksboro Coffeehouse Cinema on June 2.

"The indie filmmaker will appear in person to present the North Carolina premiere of his latest directorial effort, “Return to Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1,” the first of a two-part sequel to Troma’s 1986 hit “Class of Nuke ‘Em High.” Kaufman is co-founder of Troma Films, the B-Movie studio behind such insanely-titled low budget cult films as “Tromeo & Juliet,” “Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D.,” “Surf Nazis Must Die” and “Redneck Zombies.” Aside from debuting his newest film, Kaufman will greet fans, host a Q&A after the screening as well as sell exclusive merchandise from the Troma vaults.

The June 2 screening will be part of a nationwide tour to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Troma Entertainment, one of the longest-running independent film studios in United States history. Through low budgets and a no-holds-barred approach to horror and sci-fi filmmaking, Troma helped launch the careers of world famous celebrities Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Costner, Vincent D’Onofrio, Samuel L. Jackson and “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone among many others.

“Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Vol. 1 & 2,” directed by Kaufman, is a hilarious, thoughtful sci-fi “Event Film” with themes ripped straight from today’s headlines: the contamination and degradation of the world’s food supply, rampant bullying, and LGBTQ love triumphing over prejudice and violence.

The exclusive live event and premiere movie screening will take place at 8 p.m. Monday, June 2 at Geeksboro Coffeeehouse Cinema on 2134 Lawndale Drive. Tickets for the event are $15 each and may be purchased at Geeksboro’s café or online at www.Geeksboro.com.
