"The Greensboro Youth Council (GYC) will hold an Open
House and Orientation on Thursday, June 26 at the GYC Office (501 Yanceyville
Street) from 5:30 to 7 pm. This is a great opportunity for high school students
to become more involved in their community. The first step to become a member
of GYC is attending an orientation. Orientations will begin at 5:30 pm, 6 pm,
and 6:30 pm. During the orientation, teens will learn how to join the
Greensboro Youth Council and about the service learning and volunteer opportunities.
Those attending will also get a tour of our office and meet the current
Executive Board. During the orientation for teens, the GYC advisors will hold
an information session for parents.
GYC teaches leadership skills
and responsibility, and it is a great way to meet new people, earn volunteer
hours, and serve the community. Last year, GYC had an economic impact of $136,927.95 through
donations, grants, numerous projects and over 4,777 hours of community service.
