Parents charged with abuse, injuries to 10-month-old


"On Oct. 14, 2013, Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department were called to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to investigate reports of a 10-month-old child who was being seen for multiple bone fractures and bruising. Winston-Salem Police Department Detectives responded on that date and assumed responsibility for this investigation. 

At the completion of the investigation, the child’s father and mother were both identified as the persons responsible for their child’s injuries. Based on the evidence gathered, warrants for both parents were issued as follows:

  • Felony Child Abuse-Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury (1 count each)
  • Felony Child Abuse-Inflicting Physical Bodily Injury (2 counts each)
 On June 4, 2014, Mr. Angelo Ford of 124 S. Sunset Dr. in Winston-Salem and and Ms. Candice Johnson of 204 Brambleton Court in Winston-Salem were arrested at 200 N. Main Street.  Mr. Ford was given a $100,000.00 bond, and Ms. Johnson was given a $75,000.00 bond. The court dates are still pending. The child was placed (by the Department of Social Services) with a family member.
