Raykeem Alexander Byrd |
"On Aug. 1 at 11:12am, Timothy Richard Head, 53, reported coming home to his house at 1205 Waughtown St. in Winston-Salem and being
confronted inside the residence by Raykeem
Byrd, who had broken in through the back door.
Reports state that Byrd, a 21-year old black male of 1937 Leight St., pointed a handgun
(which he stole from inside the residence) at Head and demanded cash. The
victim, Head, gave Byrd approximately $300 in cash and his cell phone. Byrd threatened to kill the victim if he called police and then left heading
east on Waughtown St.
Officers responded to the area and observed a subject
matching the description of the perpetrator on the front porch of 1937 Leight
St. This subject went into the residence and for a short time refused to come
out. After talking with the adult female there, Ms. Kali Wright, 21, Byrd came
downstairs wearing different clothing than what he had on when officers first
observed him. Byrd was subsequently identified as the perpetrator and
placed under arrest. While Byrd was in the back of a patrol vehicle, Wright opened the door to speak with him and was ordered away from the patrol
car by an officer. When the officer approached her, Wright became combative
and struck him on the arm. A struggle ensued and a second officer assisting in
her arrest was bitten on the leg by Wright.
