EXCELLENCE AWARDS WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT DOWNTOWN WINSTON-SALEM PARTNERSHIP ANNUAL MEETING

The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership (DWSP) held its annual general membership meeting today, Tuesday, February 22, at 8 a.m. at the Grand Pavilion Ballroom of the Embassy Suites Hotel.

A special feature of the meeting was the presentation of the Downtown Excellence Awards by Mayor Allen Joines. Each year, the Downtown Partnership honors businesses and individuals who have excelled in some area which benefited downtown. In the past, awards have been given for special events, new construction or building rehabilitation, streetscapes, and creative retailing. This year, there were seven winners announced at the meeting:

  • Aperture Cinema- represented by Lawren & Jigar Desai
  • BB&T Ballpark- represented by Geoff Lassiter and Ryan Manual
  • Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts- represented by Milton Rhodes and Tom Ingram
  • The Nutcracker Production- represented by Katharine Laidlaw
  • The Roger L. Stevens Center of the UNCSA- represented by UNCSA Chancellor John Mauceri
  • Scene In Winston-Salem Scavenger Hunt- represented by Susan Morris and Debra Chiarello
  • Winston Factory Lofts- represented by Amy Foster and Hugh Shytle
