Jeff Hyde announces he is running for chair of the Guilford County Republican Party in hopes of filling the position opened by the retirement of Bill Wright. The election takes place on March 14 at the party convention. A source active with the Guilford GOP that I bumped into at Harris Teeter in Adams Farm tells me Theresa Yon is also running for chair.
Both Hyde and Yon were unsuccessful candidates for NC General Assembly last year. Hyde is a founder of Conservatives for Guilford County and often identified with the tea party movement. Yon is a friend of NC Rep. John Blust. Beyond that, I'm not really certain whether they represent different factions of the party or hold reputations for different leadership styles. Can anyone tell me?
