Latin American Coalition: Folwell intimidated student activist

Dale Folwell (R-Forsyth), Speaker Pro Tem of the NC House, introduced House Bill 744 — the Safe Students Act — on April 7. The bill would require parents to state whether their child is a US citizen prior to enrolling the child in a North Carolina public school. (file photo)

Last week, Irene Godinez, legislative director and lobbyist for the Latin American Coalition, sent a letter to NC Speaker of the House Thom Tillis alleging that Rep. Dale Folwell (R-Forsyth) physically intimidated a student activist who spoke out against House Bill 744, the Safe Students Act, at the NC General Assembly on June 1.
