GREENSBORO YOUTH ORCHESTRA
AND CAROLINA THEATRE
PRESENT A LIVE PERFORMANCE
ACCOMPANYING
THE 1921 SILENT FILM “THE kID” STARRING
CHARLIE CHAPLIN
The Greensboro
Symphony Youth Orchestra, together with the Carolina Theatre, will present a
live performance accompanying the 1921 silent Charlie Chaplin film, The Kid, on Sunday, April 13, at 3:00pm
in the Carolina’s auditorium.
This
innovative project will serve as the youth orchestra’s warm-up for a gig with
even higher stakes: performing with the Silent Film Society of Chicago this
spring at the historic Patio Theatre in Northwest Chicago.
The
Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra’s performance at the Patio Theatre will be
part of an extensive Chicago tour, culminating in coachings and clinics with
members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and tickets to see the CSO under the
direction of renowned conductor, Leonard Slatkin. GSYO members have prepared
rigorously for the tour, which will serve as a defining experience for the
ensemble. The Greensboro Symphony Guild, a major sponsor of the GSO’s education
programs, has generously provided scholarship funding so that all students may
participate.
