"A nineteen-year-old Greensboro man faces more than 40 criminal charges for allegedly breaking into 19 residences.
Lucas Paddington Cooper, 5939 West Friendly Avenue Apartment 62G, is suspected of a series of burglaries in the Western Patrol Division, including 10 apartments in the WestBorough complex where he resided.
The first burglary occurred on Sept. 5, 2013 at 5606 Tower Road. The next occurred Dec. 26, 2013 at 304 Anchor Drive. In this instance, the suspect was interrupted when an alert neighbor heard the home being broken into and called police. On Jan. 17, 2014, another home on Tower Road was burglarized, along with one on Lindley Rd.
Throughout January and February, Cooper is suspected of breaking into two homes on Boxwood Drive, a home on Dobson Rd., an apartment on Tomahawk Dr., and a home on Dolly Madison Drive. The burglaries at WestBorough Apartments also occurred during these months.
Jewelry and electronics were taken from most residences.
Evidence from one of the burglaries and investigative protocols lead to Cooper’s arrest.
Cooper faces a total of 19 charges of Breaking and Entering, 11 charges of Larceny after Breaking and Entering, 12 charges of Possession of Stolen Property, one charge of Larceny of a Firearm and one charge of Possession of a Stolen Firearm. He also faces one charge of Financial Card Theft for a larceny that occurred at 912 Third Street on Feb. 25, 2014.
Additional charges are pending.
Cooper is currently confined in Greensboro Jail Central on multiple secure bonds.
