Mendoza charged with statutory rape, indecent liberties with minor, felony child abuse and more


"Aug. 9, 2013, officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department received a report of a sexual offense.
 Mr. Eliazar Mendoza was reported to have repeatedly sexually assaulted a female family member from 2005 through 2011. These incidents were reported to have occurred in Winston-Salem and the victim was 9 years old when they first occurred. Winston-Salem Police Department Detectives assumed responsibility of the investigation into these allegations.

Mr. Mendoza was arrested June 2 by the Kannapolis Police Department, at his 723 Evelyn Ave. Kannapolis home without incident.   He was charged with 5 counts of 1st Degree Rape, 7 counts of Indecent Liberties with a Minor, 2 counts of 1st Degree Sex Offense, 2 counts of Statutory Rape/Sex Offense greater than 6 years older than the victim (2 counts) and 2 counts of Felony Child Abuse. He was placed in the Cabarrus County Detention Facility under a $750,000.00 bond, awaiting extradition to Forsyth County. Mr. Mendoza’s Forsyth County court date is pending upon extradition.
