"Winston-Salem, NC—Beginning Thursday, January 15, Hospice
& Palliative CareCenter will host a monthly Veterans’ Coffee from
8:30-10:30am at Outback Steakhouse in Winston-Salem. The Coffee is free and open to veterans of all
ages and is an opportunity for our local veterans to meet, share stories, and
enjoy informal presentations by community organizations. Veterans’ Coffee
gatherings will continue on the third Thursday of each month Outback Steakhouse
located at 505 Highland Oaks Drive in Winston-Salem. Complimentary coffee and
pastries are being provided by Sheetz. For more information call 336.768.3972.
Around the country and here in
North Carolina similar events are being held to provide veterans a place to
gather and for local health and human service organizations to show their
support by offering a casual environment where veterans can meet and learn
about services available to them. Don Timmons, Event Coordinator and Vietnam
veteran, explained Hospice & Palliative CareCenter’s involvement. “We are inviting local veterans to enjoy these
Coffee events as our way of saying thanks for your service, to provide an
opportunity for comradery and also offer access to local resources and that our
veterans may not be aware of.”
Through We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative
Care Organization (NHPCO) and Veterans Administration (VA), Hospice &
Palliative CareCenter is better serving our veterans and their families as they
face end of life. The Veterans’ Coffee event is one more way Hospice can salute
those who serve in our nation’s armed forces.
Hospice
& Palliative CareCenter is North Carolina’s oldest and most comprehensive hospice
organization—celebrating 35 years and offering services at all stages of life
to bring hope, expert care and quality of life to anyone facing the challenges
of a life-limiting illness."
