Elizabeth Edmonds has served as school’s
office support for 21 years
"Greensboro, N.C. – Elizabeth “Libby” Edmonds still remembers them. The students who needed extra support, or the ones who struggled to stay focused. She remembers in particular a young man who started having trouble in the classroom after his grandfather died. Years later, he came back and thanked Edmonds for the support and comfort she gave him.
She’ll remember today too. With family and staff cheering, Edmonds was named the Guilford County Schools Employee of the Month for August 2015, sponsored by Sam’s Club. Edmonds has been in an office support role at Guilford Middle for 21 years and now sees former students bringing their own children into the building, children she enjoys seeing grow so much during their middle school years.
Her caring and empathetic nature is just one of the reasons she was nominated by Principal Patrice Brown, who also recognized her organizational skills and wealth of knowledge.
“Libby is the glue that holds our school together,” she said. “I know I leaned on her when I first came to this school three years ago. We truly appreciate Libby and all she does to show her GMS Tiger Pride each day.”
As Employee of the Month, Edmonds received a $50 gift card from Sam’s Club, which has given more than $6,000 to outstanding GCS employees since 2005. During the month of August, her photo will hang at the district’s central offices, at Guilford Middle and at the Sam’s Club on Wendover Avenue."
