Abdel Nuriddin Tabbed as Vice Chairman
"Greensboro, NC (8/10/14) -- At its August meeting at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, the War Memorial Commission unanimously elected Ted Oliver as its new chairman.
Appointed by Greensboro City Council, members of the War Memorial Commission serve as the volunteer advisory board for the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Prior to this month’s election, Oliver had served as the Commission’s vice-chairman; he has been a member of the Commission since 2012. He succeeds Reid Phillips as chairman and will serve in this position through August of 2016.
Oliver is Senior VP – Investments for Davenport & Company in Greensboro. In addition to his tenure on the Commission, Oliver’s history of community service included serving as a member of Greensboro Performing Arts Center Task Force and Greensboro Aquatic Center Advisory Board as well as a four-year (2004-2008) stint as president of Greensboro Swimming Association. A current member of the Greensboro Sports Council, he is also treasurer for the Summit Rotary Foundation.
In another unanimous vote, the War Memorial Commission elected Dr. Abdel Nuriddin as its new vice chairman. Nuriddin is the founder of the Genesis Health & Nutrition Center in Greensboro and also hosts a live weekly call-in television program on Greensboro Community Television. A former chairperson of the Greensboro Human Relations Commission, he has been a War Memorial Commission member since 2012."
