INCIDENT:
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle
Felonious Breaking and Entering
On Dec. 9 at 8:20am, the victim, Julie Epperson, 45, was returning to her residence at 484 Stonegate Lane in Winston-Salem, when she observed
the rear door to the house damaged and standing open. While inside her vehicle,
suspect #1, discribed as a white male in his 20's, with a slender build wearing a green ooded sweatshirt, jeans and armed with a black handgun, approached the driver’s door from behind the vehicle and pointed the handgun at the Epperson. The suspect demanded the she get out of
her vehicle, and then discharged the gun one time with the bullet striking the
left rear door. Epperson immediately began backing the vehicle, and suspect
#1 fired another time, with the bullet striking the front windshield. The
vehicle hit a tree while backing up, at which time the victim exited the
vehicle and ran away. As the victim was running, she fell down causing an
injury to her shoulder. The victim was treated for her injury at Baptist
Hospital and later released.
A police K9 track lead officers south into the Gordon Manor
neighborhood where a witness reported seeing the two above described suspects
running south away from the incident location toward Cliffdale Dr. Another
witness observed seeing a small, red vehicle described as a sports car with a
spoiler on the back, speeding south on Cliffdale Dr. toward Country Club Rd.
Investigation continues.
Update: Wednesday, December 16, 2015
This matter has been under
investigation by members of Winston-Salem Police Department’s Criminal
Investigation Division. As a result of
that investigation, authorities have charged twenty-four year old Jefferey
Stuart Sneed with Attempted Murder, Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied
Vehicle, Felony Breaking and Entering and Larceny after Breaking and
Entering.
Sneed, of 717 Polo Oaks Drive in Winston-Salem, was taken into
custody at his residence by Winston-Salem Police Department S.W.A.T. members
without incident. Mr. Sneed is being
held in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $500,000.00 secured
bond. A court date of January 07, 2016
has been set in this matter.
Update: Friday, December 18, 2015
Authorities have made a second
arrest in this matter. Forty-two year
old Larry Lineral Stevenson has been charged with Felony Breaking and Entering
and Larceny after Breaking and Entering.
Earlier this morning, Mr. Stevenson, of 1209-D E. 11th Street in Winston-Salem, voluntarily surrendered to
authorities and is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a
$20,000.00 secured bond.
No other suspects are sought in
this investigation. Anyone with
