Ignite High Point brought back 2015 series curator Tess
Mangum Ocaña, of Sonic Pie Productions, to
put together the new season of shows. She hand-picked performers predominantly
from North Carolina but included a few nationally-touring artists such as The
Stray Birds and The Rad Trads. “Plus, I noticed the crowd really responded to
last year’s New Orleans style brass band, so we’re kicking off 2016 with
another: Boom Unit Brass Band” says Ocaña.
"The overwhelming success of last
year, our first year, shows ‘if you build it they will come’ and that High
Point wants and needs something like this" says Richard Wood, member of
Ignite High Point.
The
Ignite High Point Whistle Stop Concert Series is made possible by Ignite High
Point, City of High Point, Sonic Pie Productions, Bank of North Carolina, High
Point Enterprise Radisson High Point, Forward High Point and Triad City Beat. Concerts are held rain or shine at 100 West

been making music of all kinds since childhood (before they reconnected through
the local music scene, de Vitry and Muench first met in middle school
orchestra); however, they were also all raised with a steady diet of music
ranging from pioneers like The Carter Family and Bill Monroe & His Blue
Grass Boys to the joyous invention of The Beatles and The Band, to the
groundbreaking artistry of Jimi Hendrix. Recommended for fans of: Woody Guthrie, Mipso. Park at the parking deck nearby, or take the

The Luxuriant Sedans hail from the fertile
musical stomping grounds of the North Carolina Piedmont. The band’s five
members - Mike “Wezo” Wesolowski (vocals, harp); Ed Bumgardner (bass, vocals);
Rob Slater and Gino "Woo Funk" Grandinetti (guitars) and Bob Tarleton
(drums) - are veteran musicians with experience in myriad musical genres, from
alternative music to country-rock to jazz, vintage soul and rock ‘n’ roll in
all its forms and guises. The common ground for their backgrounds is
blues, but The Luxuriant Sedans is no typical fedora-wearing,
licks-off-of-records blues band.
