Giovanni for Obama

Poet Nikki Giovanni at the Carolina Theatre in Greensboro today: "We need a change we can believe in. I hope North Carolina will continue to make history. He's cute. His wife looks good. The children are nice.... If America's going to have a savior, it's going to have to be a person of color."

Voting for Obama because he is black is no better than voting for McCain because he is white.

And you know, regardless of how many free concerts he is throwing in Greensboro, I don't think I am going to vote for Obama. This is coming from a man who was staunchly anti-Hilary at one point, but now what choice to we have?

The way Obama is running his campaign now, he reminds me an awful lot of G.W. He never addresses the issues.

All Obama does is offer his standard monosyllabic campaign promise: "Change." But he never goes into a lot of detail as to what he's going to change or how he expects to do it. Obama is tantamount to this giant glowing box with a question mark on the front of it. He's basically a Frankenstein's monster of marketing savvy.

And it saddens me that so many artists that I respect have sided with him even though we really know nothing about the guy. I mean did Obama have secret meetings with these celebrities where he told them things he won't disclose in public? It's the only way I can make sense out of these people having so much trust in who he is.

You may want to check out this website:
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/

You can download detailed info on all Obama's stands on all the issues if you really would like to know.

Various issues are addressed individually, and you can even download the "Blueprint for Change", which at 64 pages long should have "a lot of detail".

Anonymous,

All of the statements I made were directed at the Obama's public campaign, i.e., what he talks about on TV and during public appearances. I mean I was pretty sure he has it written down somewhere, but it would make me feel a lot better if he could come out and say some of this stuff from his own mouth. That way he can at least give us the impression he is aware of what is on his website, and actually gave it some thought. Anyone can write a website - what I want to see is whether Obama actually knows any of it off the top of his head.

Obama is not being as forthcoming on the issues as either Clinton or McCain. In public, the one thing he seems to be willing to talk about right now is that he is running a better campaign than his competitors. That's exactly what Bush did in '00 and especially '04.

Another thing that gets me is that even the people who support Obama really don't have a lot of faith in him. I've heard many people say, "He doesn't have a lot of experience, but I am sure he will appoint a great cabinet to help him do his job."

Again, this is a very Bush-ish way of looking at a candidate. A lot of Bush supporters said the same thing when he was running for president. And the problem with that kind of response is that I don't want a president who's only smart enough to hire who he or she thinks is a good cabinet. I want a leader who not only knows how to staff his or her administration, but also when to listen to these people and when to tell them to get bent.

Otherwise, we're just doing what the foolhardy republicans did in with G.W. We'll just be picking a puppet president of our own.

I just voted for David Crawford, but why did I vote for crawford?
I was looking at what each person hard. well to start
If you look in yes weekly i was shock to see this week crawford was the only one out of the 5 to run ads, both Crawford and alexander was in the jamestown news also but only then, whats is so bad is HUEY ERIK who lives in Jamestown nc did not run a ad in his home town paper. why? he did not ancer. Huey also like McKINNEY has not show up at some of the day time opens to talk the people.
Crawford was the only person also to run a ad in the adams farms paper. I see Dave and Sander are the only 2 that are in the run for real, now as for yard sings crawford/mckinney/sander are the only ones that i see out there but when i goto the partys main office crawford is the only sings i see, Crawford is the only one in our party that has members also to put sings at the voting polls for him unlike the 4 running!looks as if mike and huey both feel thay don’t need to run any race to win.
dave and sander are my picks but due to i can only vote for one i picked dave.

David, please don't hide behind anonymity, and stop referring to yourself in third person. If you have an opinion about the other candidates, I would suggest you stand behind it.

Jodan,

Did David seriously write that post?

If so, shouldn't that count for fraud?

David has a history of sending e-mails under aliases and making phone calls under assumed identities. We've received them at YES! Weekly, and others have reported them too. Maybe David will helpfully take responsibility for his mischief-making.

Oh yeah, I see your point about the possibility of election fraud. I also wanted to mention that one can find syntactical consistencies between David's legitimate correspondence and his communications under anonynimity and bogus identities. Maybe David can clarify the voting matter for us.

That's why I love Jordan Green.
