From ribald comedic pop-culture revelry to reverent reflections on love and humanity, Foxy Moxy says: "Get your tail out there and enjoy the arts this week"!
Hello frisky Triad trend setters. It’s November and the election is behind us at last. I figured redirecting your attention to the entertaining Triad arts scene might be in order. There's just a hint of frost is in the air, so don’t forget to take someone along to keep you warm!
In Winston Salem on Thursday the 13th, you won’t want to miss the outrageous antics of fab, feminist, gorilla-masked avengers, The Guerilla Girls. Heading to the Salem Fine Arts Center at Salem College, these girls use humor, factual accounts and wild visuals to expose sexism, racism and corruption in politics, film, art and pop culture. They have authored several books and created billboards as well! Show begins at 7PM and the cost is free. You can get more information by calling: 336-917-5313, or visiting: www.salem.edu.
A 180-degree turn takes us to my other choice this week, happening on Saturday the 15th at The Sanctuary, 900 16th Street in Greensboro. 2nd Annual Rumi by Candlelight features a recitation of work of the ancient mystic poet Rumi. After eight centuries he remains the most popular poet in the US today. Accompanying reader Adrian Vyner-Brooks, will be original music by Betsy Bevan on piano and Will Ridenour playing the Kora, a type of African harp. Arrive before the scheduled 7:30PM start time for good seats and visit: www.thesanctuarygso.com for more info. A multi-disciplinary and multicultural event you won’t want to miss!
