Greensboro implicated in busted sex slavery ring

McClatchy Newspapers reports that Jorge Flores Rojas, a 44-year-old undocumented Mexican national has been sentenced by a federal judge in Charlotte to 24 years in prison for running a sex trafficking ring that smuggled girls in from Mexico and forced them to work as prostitutes in Charlotte; Myrtle Beach, SC; and Washington, DC.

Gary L. Wright and Franco Ordonez, who wrote the story, report: “To keep a constant cycle of prostitutes in Charlotte, traffickers exchange the women with other pimps and handlers in cities such as Raleigh and Greensboro, often for as little as $130 each, authorities said. The women are moved so frequently that some no longer know what city they’re in.”
