Groat's game plan

Greensboro Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Anderson Groat plans to meet with her committee to plan her reelection campaign, the candidate told me earlier today.

She said that her homebuilding company has been dissolved, but she was able to avoid filing for personal bankruptcy. She will need to raise some money to campaign.

"I'm trying to do three billboards, some handout materials and signs," Groat said. "I'm anxious to get started."

The candidate also hopes to assemble a team of young volunteers. Her son is a freshman at Bishop McGuiness Catholic High School in Kernersville this year, and Groat said she hopes to recruit students from the school's senior government class to work on her campaign.

I thought this said "Goat" when I first read this. Might as well have.

Three billboards? What is she talking about money problems? That shit's crazy!

Does this mean the personal debt for $250,000 has been paid?

Fec, I can't say. We had a quick conversation that didn't allow for much follow-up. I don't think Ms. Groat reads blogs, but if she does she's welcome to respond.

Yeah no kidding. She's pretty outdated. She's too busy ignoring her constituents when they speak at City Council.

Wait a second... She hasn't started her damn campaign yet? What the hell has she been doing?
And she's going to get some kids from Kernersville to help her out? Did anyone tell her she is on GREENSBORO City Council?? If you can't get volunteers from Greensboro you need to reconsider if you actually represent anyone in this damn City.

Thanks, JG. I've attacked her twice on my blog and she responded quick enough. Perhaps I should again.

I think it is so funny that people who seem to be so much in the know, can't understand that when the Mortgage Industry collapses due to Bankers making poor decisions it has an adverse effect on home builders. As a business women, Sandra Anderson-Groat broke down the traditional gender barriers and has done so much to revitalize Greensboro and provide affordable housing to hundreds of new homeowners.

And yes, she has many supporters in Greensboro and a very active campaign committee with plenty of volunteers. BTW Anonymous, we all know who you are, your vulgar mouth always gives you away. lol

Just to make at least the record straight. My husband and I have been married for three years. He is a physician for 33 years before we had married. I tell you this in order to better explain the breakdown of my business.

I am actually having 5 billboards, going up on Monday. I may only need them for one day. I may be defeated in the primary. I hope not. My husband gave me 4000 which I which I loaned to my campaign. I have done no fund raising at all. My brother contributed 1500 to my campaign, and I have had a few contributions beside that.

I did not start campaigning earlier because I was waiting for the resolution of financial affairs. These obligations have been met to the satisfaction of the parties. The settlement amout was 75,000. My husband paid that settlement. I would not have run for re-election in respect for the seat if my business situation had not been cleared up.
We have plans for the campaign after the primary.

I ran a successful business for 29 years, mostly in the affordable housing arena. Our customers were first time home buyers many who were swayed away with subprime mortgages. We did an education process that took longer for them. We built in Greensboro between 1200-1300 homes. When the business was in trouble I put everything I had into it, including my retirement plan. And I am glad for that.

I am not asking for you to understand or agree with me, but I do believe that I should do my best to give you the explanation to your comments.

All the factors of the economy contributed to the demise of our business Subprime mortages were the main reason for us.

I know you are looking for something bad to say. I am ok with that. But if you have questions about me or my company please let me know.

Nick started at Bishop McGuinness High School this year in 10th grade. Their government class is not available to help us with the campaign, because of another course of study they are doing right now. Nick gets on the bus in front of our house and there are three buses that go to Bishop each day. So most of the students we know are from Greensboro. To each of you guys, I don't know who you are and you do not know me or my family. We would be happy to get acquainted and answer any questions you might have. Call us. Sandra Anderson Groat

Sandra, I want to thank you for your comments and tell you how sorry I am that immature people have to hide behind anonymous and can't communicate in this forum without using profanity. I believe whenever you have to resort to cursing, you've lost the debate. I feel for your business situation and commend you for handling it far better than a lot of others in these crazy times. It is also very nice to see you including your son in your campaign.
Sincerely,
Charles Womack

Hey Mr. Womack you might want to look internally with comments like this.

"Roch: Give me a break. You don't know who I am? I've been commenting under this name for years. For the record, it's me, Brian Clarey. Jackass."

I am confused. Is "yesweekly" Charles Womack or Brian Clarey?
