One of Greensboro mayoral candidate Bill Knight ’s attack lines against incumbent Yvonne Johnson is that the city hasn’t had a sufficient focus on business under her leadership.
Tonight, at a candidate forum held at Congregational United Church of Christ, Johnson acknowledged the attack, and defended her record and focus.
“I don’t agree that we don’t have business on the table,” she said. “We have recruited Precor, which is the top-of-the-line exercise company – 300-some jobs – Lenovo, HondaJet, Federal Express Ground, and I could go on and on. I am working on a regional company. It’s a veterans support company to come to Forsyth County, but it will hire a number of our people – 300 and some jobs. I initiated as mayor putting the names of small businesses on our website, with a one-line description of what they do.”
