NC House candidate in court for traffic charges

Marcus Brandon, a candidate for NC House District 60, was in Guilford County court today for traffic charges. Brandon said his lawyer was able to work out a deal with the district attorney's office to have a charge of driving while license revoked reduced to a non-moving violation. A second charge of operating a vehicle with no insurance was dismissed, Brandon said, because he surrendered his drivers license.

The case was heard in District Court Judge Angela Foster's crowded Courtroom 1D today.

Brandon still has pending traffic charges in Ohio. Brandon told me relies on other people to drive him around and uses public transportation. A self-described lifelong "terrible" driver, Brandon has an extensive record of speeding and other traffic violations.

Brandon faces incumbent Earl Jones in the Democratic primary on May 4.
