Nashville benefit in High Point

In light of the Nashville flood of May 2-4 that cost more than 30 lives and $2 billion in damage, acoustic rock band Union County will strum for the cause in its Nashville disaster relief show on Saturday, May 29, at 9 p.m. at Aquarius Music Hall in High Point. Opening for the band is artist Matthew McGinn.

If you enjoy listening to Sister Hazel, Foo Fighters, or John Mayer, then you’re sure to enjoy the musical style of Union County, which is a fusion of folk jazz and pop rock. Opening for the band is artist Matthew McGinn.

UC, whose album was recorded in Nashville and thus delayed by the flooding, will be releasing only the name of their soon-to-be released third album and one track. The track will sell for $1 plus donation. All donations will go toward the Nashville disaster relief. “So now we’re calling it, instead of the ‘album release show,’ the ‘album relief show’,” said Steve Thompson, guitarist and vocalist for Union County.

The full-band show will include UC guitarists and vocalists Steve Thompson and Alan Peterson, who will perform with bass player Joe Brown and drummer Kyle Wilkerson.

“We’re really excited about this weekend,” Thompson said. “It will be a loud rock show, but it’s a family show too, so I think there’ll be a lot of good people. I think it’ll be a great experience for everyone.”

The show is open to all ages. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased ahead of time HERE
