The Washington Post picked up on a story about altered photos from BP's Houston command center. Three screens that were blank were filled in, ostensibly to make BP seem super, duper busy watching everything.
Scott Dean, a spokesman for BP, said that a photographer had inserted the three images, implying it was the photographers choice. "In this case they copied and pasted three ROV screen images in the original photo over three screens that were not running video feeds at the time."
Right. Photographers and designers love using the Pen Tool to silhouette images just for fun.
