Cherry: Crotts' decision to delay termination calculated to lessen community meeting's impact

Greensboro police Capt. Charles Cherry: "I was informed that there is one (1) of many community gatherings at Mount Zion Church on Alamance Church Road, on Sunday August 29, 2010 at 3:00pm. This gathering is being publicized and according to sources will address police corruption. I believe Interim Chief Crotts is delaying informing me of his decision to less the impact of this gathering. My point being that Officer Pryor's unlawful corruptive termination was on Thursday morning. Interim Chief Crotts appears to be thinking that holding off on my unlawful corruptive termination may lessen the impact of the community gathering."

Cherry's termination hearing was held on Wednesday. The suspended captain has been told that interim Chief Dwight Crotts will inform him of his decision on Aug. 30 at 2 p.m.

Cherry: "The termination decision meeting only takes about ten (10) minutes."
