Fifth GPD officer suspended in two months

Greensboro interim police Chief Dwight Crotts confirms that Officer MD Royal has been placed on suspension without pay. Crotts declined to comment on whether Royal is being recommended for termination.

YES! Weekly previously reported that Royal was under investigation for violation of the department's truthfulness directive.

Three Greensboro police officers face termination hearings this week: Officer Joseph Pryor tomorrow, Capt. Charles Cherry on Wednesday, and Officer Robert Reyes on Friday.

Newly hired Chief Ken Miller is scheduled to start work on Sept. 1.
