Braveyoung to release record Thursday

“We Are Lonely Animals,” the long-anticipated record from local favorites Braveyoung, drops on Thursday. The band will be playing a release show with Harvard, Hidden Lake Park and Black Panthers at Legitimate Business, a venue Braveyoung members helped found and continue to maintain.

“The record is long overdue,” said drummer Elsworth Jones. “We are really excited for people to take something from it.”

“It’s such a relief,” said bassist Kyle Whisenant. “It’s been over two years since we started working on it and to finally have a release that we are all excited about is so sweet.”

The release comes a day before Braveyoung piles into a van and a trailer headed for Providence, Rhode Island, where they will record a collaborative record. From there begins a full US tour, something they are already familiar with.

“We hope to make it home from tour,” Jones said when asked if he had any hopes for the road.

His sentiment is easy to understand in context. Starting Feb. 20, they plan to play a show every single night until March 19 when they take a night off before the last show the next night in Philadelphia. Just before the end, Braveyoung will play at the infamous SXSW festival in Austin.

The record release show begins at 8 pm and a $5 donation is requested at the door. Braveyoung will be letting records go for $12 each.
