Tax Day Tea Party Tea Partiers Converge on Downtown Greensboro to make their voices heard on Tax Day, April 15, 2011

Citizens of Guilford County who are disillusioned with the current administration are stepping up to make their presence known. Conservatives for Guilford County will, once again, be hosting this year’s Tea Party event at Governmental Plaza in Downtown Greensboro on tax filing day. The main purpose of this event is to bring Guilford County’s conservative community together and to empower citizens by encouraging them to get involved.

Conservatives for Guilford County will be joined by other conservative groups such as, AnyStreet NC, Right to Life, Civitas, John Locke, FairTax, and NRA. With the 2010 Tea Party bringing in over 2,000 people, this year’s event is expected to draw a large crowd as well. This year’s line-up of speakers will include: 2010 Senate candidate, Mike Beitler, Wake County School Board member, John Tedesco, and private citizens, Isabella Adkins and Jim Lewis. Kevin Daniels from the Frederick Douglas Foundation will emcee the program.

This family-friendly event will offer plenty of opportunities for adults and children to express their patriotism with live music, face painting, and, of course, free TEA. A voter registration table will be available as well as other opportunities for motivated citizens to get involved in the community. There will also be a food drive at the rally this year. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods to donate to Greensboro Urban Ministry. Tea Partiers will begin gathering at 4:30pm, with the main program running from 5:30-7:00pm.
