What Would Jordan Do?

We've known for years that veteran YES! Weekly News Editor Jordan Green sees things more clearly than most.

Now add Greensboro City Councilman Robbie Perkins and city staffer Steve Sherman to the list of people who sometimes ask themselves, "What would Jordan Green do?"

Last week Jordan followed the Mary Rakestraw redistricting saga with the tenacity of an old-time prospector deep in the throes of Gold Fever, but as it turns out, he had a better plan all along.

And Perkins has a point: Pinning this on Jordan may absolve him from blame if the plan doesn't survive the council vote scheduled for May 3.

But if it's adopted, and it proves popular with the city (and its voters), then Jordan should get the credit.

And what, exactly, does that mean?

There are obvious issues when a news reporter becomes part of the story, but Jordan has put as much time into understanding the city's political districts and precincts as anybody in town. He's an informed source. Plus, he knows how to do math.

So why not float a plan? I have no problem with it, and can only imagine the traction it would have gotten if he had only laid it anonymously on a council member's doorstep.
