NC Sen. Bob Rucho (R-Mecklenburg) and Rep. David Lewis (R-Harnett), who are heading up the state's redistricting effort, have released proposed congressional maps.
The proposed map brings significant changes for the Triad's representation in Congress.
The 13th District, which is currently represented by US Rep. Brad Miller, a Democrat, is redrawn in a way that is favorable to a Republican candidate. Instead of poking a finger down into Greensboro to pick up heavily Democratic constituencies, it straddles the Forsyth-Guilford county line to encompass more Republican-leaning voters in the Kernersville area and north High Point.
The 12th District, a majority minority, district grows significantly in Greensboro, picking up heavily minority areas in the northeast part of the city.
