Former elections official to run for District Court Judge seat

Jerry Jordan, a local attorney and former member of the Forsyth County Board of Elections, has announced he will run for a seat on the Forsyth County District Court in 2012.

Jordan, 46, has practiced law for 14 years specializing in criminal defense, civil litigation, family law, juvenile delinquency, abuse and neglect cases as well as appellate law, according to a press release.

“Too many times citizens walk into a court room without a clear understanding of their rights and responsibilities,” Jordan said in a prepared statement. “A judge should not base his or her rulings upon your social standing or political party. Judges do not wear a red robe or blue robe, they wear a black robe and should possess a strong sense of neutrality through their rulings and in how they operate their courtroom.”

A nine-year veteran of the US Army and US Army Reserves, Jordan served during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and was awarded two Bronze Campaign Stars, Liberation of Kuwait Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was also awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, and Four Certificates of Achievement. Jordan has served as legal counsel to Forsyth County’s Juvenile Treatment Court Core Team since 2002 and is a member of the Forsyth County Juvenile Crime Prevention Committee.

Jordan said he looks forward to meeting with voters from across the county, listening to their concerns, and educating citizens about the importance of the District Court.
