Occupy Greensboro march in solidarity with Oakland

Almost 50 people responded to a call for an emergency march in solidarity with Occupy Oakland on Oct. 26, meeting at the Occupy Greensboro encampment at 4 p.m. before weaving through downtown Greensboro and past the new jail.

Oakland has been the site of a struggle between Occupy Oakland and police and the local government. The camp was raided and shut down, police fired so-called nonlethal weapons at thousands of demonstrators and seriously injured an Iraq War veteran.

Occupy Oakland has called for a general strike on Nov. 2 which has already received widespread support in the city, and Occupy Greensboro participants are discussing possible plans for the day as well.

(Hopefully more photos will be up from Oct. 26 soon)
