Evelyn Terry, a Democrat who formerly represented the Southeast Ward on Winston-Salem City Council, has filed for NC House District 71, which is currently represented by Larry Womble.
Womble was critically injured in a car accident in December. Legislative staffers at the NC General Assembly said last week that Rep. Earline Parmon, who represents District 72, is expected to make an announcement on behalf of Womble regarding the election at an unspecified time. Meanwhile, Everette Witherspoon, has said that he plans to file for the District 71 seat on Tuesday, but was not ready to make an official announcement. Witherspoon has served on the Forsyth County Commission since 2010.
