In
2013, Inter_Section Gallery and Art Space in Winston Salem, NC, presented LAST
BITE: ONE POET, TWO ARTISTS, featuring the haiku of Robert Moyer with brush
paintings by Mona Wu of Winston- Salem, and Guntram Porps of Kassel,
Germany. Successful both commercially and critically, the exhibition
brought haiga to the attention of a wider audience, and resulted in a beautiful
catalogue, LAST BITE (see Rosenberrybooks.com).
The
two-month-long showing, featuring poetry readings, a dance performance, and a
haiga workshop by Mr. Porps encouraged both the Gallery and the NC Haiku
Society to sponsor a haiga show this year beginning in April to celebrate
National Poetry Month, and extending through May, 2014.
“Breath
to Breath” will open April 4 7-10pm during Gallery Hop.
The
show will be curated by Melrose Buchanan for the Gallery, and Kate
Magruder Lambeth for the Society.
