Wake Forest Law presents music industry insiders Reid Hunter (’86) and Alex Brahl on Thursday, March 27

"Wake Forest Law student organizations Sports and Entertainment Law Society (SELS) and the Wake Intellectual Property Student Association (WIPSA) will host, “From Wake Forest Law to the Grammys,” a joint event featuring Reid Hunter (’86) and colleague Alex Brahl at noon on Thursday, March 27, in the Worrell Professional Center, Room 1312.  The event is free and open to the public.

Hunter is an attorney for Serling Rooks Ferrara McKoy & Worob, a prominent New York City firm that specializes in music law. He joined the firm in 2000. His clients include artists John Mayer, Ray Lamontagne, The Fray and the Zac Brown Band as well as Grammy-winning producer Steve Lillywhite and Grammy-winning mixer Michael Brauer.
Hunter earned his bachelor’s degree in 1983 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before coming to Wake Forest.  After failing to find a job in the entertainment sector, he began his legal career practicing computer law with the Atlanta firm of Decker Cooper & Hallman, a firm formed by Wake Forest University alumni, then moved with computer law group to the Atlanta law firm Hurt, Richardson, Garner, Todd & Cadenhead, where he practiced in the computer law and intellectual property groups.
After a short stint as in-house counsel and chief operating officer of a small Atlanta software developer, Hunter was hired as Contract Counsel and, subsequently promoted to General Counsel, by an Atlanta-based division of Dun & Bradstreet.

Brahl, who is a partner in 7S management, has worked with Hunter on several artists  including Ume and Meese.  His main management clients are American Authors, Galactic and Big Head Todd.  7S management also manages Mary Chapin Carpenter, the Dandy Warhols, Rodrigo y Gabriela, North Mississippi Allstars, John Butler Trio, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Whigs, Dinosaur, Jr., and the estate of John Denver."
