Birkhaven Subdivision Boundary Open for Public Comment

Comments can be sent on or before May 29

"At the April 29 board meeting, facilities staff presented three potential boundaries for the Birkhaven subdivision located in northwestern Guilford County. The Guilford County Board of Education voted to approve Option 3 for a 30-day public comment period.
Once the board approved changing the student assignment boundaries for Birkhaven Subdivision to Oak Ridge Elementary at the March 27 meeting, staff developed three options for consideration. The options were created to provide logical and contiguous boundary choices for Oak Ridge Elementary, which would include all of the Birkhaven subdivision.
The board was asked by the Birkhaven subdivision developer to modify its elementary student assignment boundaries in order to assign all of the subdivision community to one elementary school. The subdivision, which is still under development, is currently split between Stokesdale Elementary and Oak Ridge Elementary.
Students potentially affected by the assignment change, in addition to property owners, will be notified about the public comment period. Any boundary changes would begin at the start of the 2014-15 school year.
Comments can be sent to gcscomments@gcsnc.com on or before May 29, 2014. In addition to the comment email, input can be sent via the courier or the U.S. mail to Guilford County Schools, Birkhaven Subdivision, 712 N. Eugene Street, Greensboro, NC 27401."
