“National Bike Month is a great time for cycling enthusiasts and anyone interested in cycling to get out and see why  Greensboro has twice been named a ‘Bicycle Friendly Community’ by the League of American Bicyclists,” said Greensboro City Manager Jim Westmoreland. “As a City, we are continuously working to add more bike lanes. We are also working to complete the Downtown Greenway and we offer nearly 90-miles of trails in our Parks and Recreation system.”

Since 1956, the League of American Bicyclists has designated May as National Bike Month. The event is an opportunity to promote the benefits of biking in all its forms, whether for commuting to work and school, or for recreation. Both the Greensboro Urban Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Greensboro City Council have passed resolutions declaring May 2014 as Bike Month in Greensboro."
