Domestic dispute leads to shootings, 6 victims

From a Police Report

The Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a reported shooting located at #20 Salem Gardens Drive, Salem Garden Apartments.  Officers arrived on the scene and located 6 victims, 2 with obvious gunshot wounds.

It was determined this incident began as a domestic dispute between Devayne Julius and Precious Hentz in which Precious Hentz was assaulted by Devayne Julius. Devayne Julius then assaulted Reshunda Patterson, who is the cousin of Precious Hentz, and was coming to the aid of Precious Hentz. Reshunda Patterson returned to her apartment to tell her boyfriend, Dalonta Spaugh about being assaulted by Devayne Julius.  Dalonta Spaugh then became involved in a physical altercation with Devayne Julius and was subsequently assaulted by Devayne Julius.

During this altercation an unknown suspect allegedly pointed a handgun at Dalonta Spaugh and threatened to shoot him.

Shortly after the physical altercation ended, several gunshots were fired by an unknown suspect towards building #20 Salem Gardens. Two bystanders unrelated to the original incident, Jokari Slater and Crystal Thompson, were struck by the gun fire. In addition, one of the rounds fired entered apartment #20 A Salem Gardens Drive which was occupied by Sara Colburn of that address. She was not injured.

Jokari Slater and Crystal Tompson were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening gunshot injuries. Delonta Spaugh was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries as a result of the assault. Precious Hentz and Reshunda Patterson were treated at the scene by EMS personnel for their injuries from the assault by Devayne Julius.

As a result of the investigation, Devayne Julius was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Assault on a Female and Affray. Devayne Julius was placed in the Forsyth County Jail with no bond allowed.
