June 7–8: Inaugural Triad Dog Games To Benefit The Sergei Foundation

A community event and dog competition to
raise money for sick and injured pets

"The inaugural Triad Dog Games is the area’s first canine competition of its kind, featuring Carolina DockDogs — a dock-jumping and dock-diving sport as seen on ESPN and The Animal Planet. Other competitive as well as nonathletic events are planned throughout the two-day event for the communities’ competitors and spectators. Presented by The Sergei Foundation, a North Carolina 501(c)(3) organization, Triad Dog Games is a fundraising event to assist in its mission to save companion pets’ lives by providing veterinary financial assistance to families unable to afford emergency, life-saving care.
This admission-free, two-day, public event will be held at Reynolda Village in Winston-Salem on Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 8, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees may enter their dogs to compete in a variety of canine competitions for a registration fee or suggested donation by June 1, 2014. Or, all are welcome to come spectate, shop the stores, eat and have some family fun (including leashed, friendly and rabies-vaccinated canine family members).

Dog competitions include DockDogs, disc dog, agility and doggy dashes. For the nonathletic pets and attendees, additional activities include a dog walk, a K-9 Hawaiian pool party, a pet/parent look-alike contest and a kids’ make-and-take project. There will also be a large-scale pet adoption fair featuring 10 area rescue organizations and shelters. “For most of us, pets are family members, and we couldn’t imagine our lives without them,” said Karen Fullerton, founder and president of The Sergei Foundation. “This first-time community event allows us to celebrate our pets and have a weekend full of fun with them while supporting a good cause.”
Donations to The Sergei Foundation made at the event will be matched by an anonymous donor up to $15,000. Cash, check and credit card donations may be made at the Triad Dog Games’ information tent during all event hours. In addition, donations can be made anytime at www.SergeiFoundation.org/donate.
