R.J. Reynolds track coach turns self in: Reports state Solicitation of a Child by Computer to Commit an Unlawful Sex Act

"On Jan 18, Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department received information that a 15-year-old student had received a series of inappropriate/sexually explicit messages from a track coach at R.J. Reynolds High School. The messages were reportedly sent electronically. 

Based on the preliminary information gathered, Detectives with the Police Department assumed immediate follow-up in this investigation. 

During the course of this investigation, Mr. Thomas McEachin Jr. was identified as the suspect in this case.  It was also discovered that his specific involvement with the school was as the “Head Track Coach”. 

Based on evidence gathered during this investigation, a warrant was issued for “Solicitation of a Child by Computer to Commit an Unlawful Sex Act” for Mr. Mceachin’s arrest.  On 04-24-14, Mr. Mceachin turned himself in to Detectives and was placed in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond. His court date was set for 05-15-14. There were no other victims identified during the course of this investigation.
