"ArtsGreensboro's online fundraising tool, power2give.org/Greensboro, announces a $10,000 matching gift from Wells Fargo. Power2Give is a crowd funding platform that encourages giving towards local arts, science and history projects and also provides non-profit organizations the chance to bring attention to projects of theirs that need funding.

ArtsGreensboro launched Power2give.org/Greensboro in May 2012 to help the local nonprofit arts groups raise much needed funding for specific projects, and help donors more intimately connect with the organizations and the audiences they serve. To date, the site has raised over $60,000 for arts projects in the area.

The matching gift from Wells Fargo will match donations towards projects dollar-to-dollar. These projects include:

  • The Greensboro Opera's "Light the Way!" to raise funds for stage lighting equipment to be used for student-created operas this Spring.
  • "OnStage and InFocus" which will help Community Theatre of Greensboro cover various stipends for a 2-week theatre program designed for individuals with varying abilities and special needs.
  • Piedmont Blues Preservation Society's "Dusting off the Cobwebs" project will digitize 20+ year old tapes of Blues performances from throughout the Triad.
  • "Write-On Greensboro" will provide volunteer teachers with the supplies, transportation, and training for creative writing and art workshops offered to the community by the Center for Creative Writing in the Arts.
  • Funds donated to "Play a Principal Role" will help pay for principal orchestra members for a Bel Canto performance of J.S. Bach's Magnificat and Dan Forrest's Requiem for the Living.
  • "Set it Up!" from the African American Atelier seeking funds to purchase new tables for their classrooms and gallery space.
  • "The Healing Blues Project" will use funds to produce an album of songs written by people who are experiencing homelessness in collaboration with local songwriters.
  • Donations to "Festival of India" will offset expenses for the Triad's only Festival dedicated to Indian culture.
