Event will celebrate Asian Heritage Month
and diversity in the workforce and community
What: Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center employees and local practitioners will present a demonstration of tai chi, a centuries-old Chinese martial art that is helpful for improving balance and general psychological health. Local tai chi studios will be there to present their course offerings. The public is invited.
Why: The Asian Business Resource Group at Forsyth Medical Center – part of the system-wide diversity and inclusion initiative – organized the event as part of its efforts to learn more about Asian American culture and traditions. That knowledge is the basis for enhancing patient care for Asian Americans, attracting and retaining Asian American employees, identification and use of Asian American businesses, and generally creating a welcoming environment that supports diversity and inclusion. Six other business resource groups – all comprised of employees – have also been formed to support diversity and inclusion.*
