incredible culture and diversity with international food, music and art in
Downtown Greensboro.
Series opens
June 25th Celebrating the Cultures of Asia.
The
Mosaic Festival, hosted by CWS Greensboro Immigration & Refugee Program,
kicks off on June 25th with the first in its Summer Nights Series
celebrating the cultures of Asia. This free outdoor event will feature home
cooks from Greensboro’s refugee communities including food booths from Burma,
Bhutan, Vietnam and more! Greensboro’s Ethnosh will also be featuring this
event as one of its community “NoshUps.”
The
Mosaic stage will host guest Tashi Dorji, an incredible Bhutanese
improvisational guitarist out of Asheville. Dorji, recently named “one of the
most exciting new acoustic guitarists nd improvisers to emerge in America in
recent years” by the Independent Weekly, will hit the stage at 7pm. His set
will be complimented by local multi-cultural musicians and artists from the
Triad including renowned Tablas and Harmonium player Rajen Sukhadia and
Bollywood and K-Pop dance performances by Damali Bacchus.
Guests
can enjoy their food and music while perusing handmade arts and crafts vendors
and learning more from local non-profits. The event is free, family-friendly
and open to the public.
Beer, wine and soft drinks will
be available for purchase at the event with all proceeds going to support local
programming for newly arrived refugees. Please bring cash for food, drink and
craft purchases.
